Description
This book is a convenient shop guide for many topics involved in aircraft construction, maintenance, inspection, and repair of aircraft. In this new 7th edition, composite aircraft have also been added. Covering everything from the basics to an overview of many processes beyond what is found in a home workshop, it covers a lot of subjects which are not often covered by other publications aimed only at the average homebuilder, but which may be of interest or use to them. This book isn’t an in-depth treatise on how to learn and perform the various tasks and procedures it covers. Rather, it gives a summary-type discussion of the fundamentals, so that the reader may gain a useful familiarity with the subject (which can serve as a launching point for further investigation, as needed). This book does a good job of exposing the reader to a wide range of useful topics, some of which are rarely covered in more narrowly-focused books. This guide also provides the reader with many useful charts and diagrams, covering things such as hole sizes, fastener and tool identification diagrams, rated strength charts, comparisons between related techniques, conversion charts, etc. This book will help to answer a great many of the questions you may have about the many tools, materials, techniques and processes you are likely to come across in relation to aircraft construction or maintenance, and would be a valuable addition to any workshop’s library.
