Steen Aero Lab congratulates Steve Fossett, aircraft designer Burt Rutan, Sponsor Sir Richard Branson, and the entire Virgin Global Flyer team on the successful completion of the largest and fastest outside loop ever completed. Though the loop’s radius of approximately 12,000 statute miles put it well beyond the standard aerobatic box (and any judges would have to be standing on the moon to see it all) it was a heck of a maneuver, nonetheless. The loop was soooo big, in fact, that the loads on the aircraft never got lower than +0.9995 g.
We have heard rumors that Steve may attempt to set a new record for the world’s largest inside loop. Stay tuned.
